Now under the esteemed guidance of Guru Thankappan Aasan’s son, Shri Ajith Kumar, we endeavor to sustain the rich cultural legacy of South India by perpetuating the priceless skills and wisdom passed down through generations.

Upholding the principles of discipline, respect, and tradition, we offer comprehensive training programs in Thekkan Kalari (Southern style of Kalaripayattu) and Marma Chikilsa, alongside traditional healing practices that emphasize holistic wellness for both the individual and the community.
Sri Thangapanashan was born on 25/11/1930 as the fifth son of Sriman Perumal Nadar and Srimati Kali Lakshmi. 'Kampadav Kali' is an art form that existed in South Travancore during the royal rule. At that time, it was customary to perform kalaripayattu in festival grounds and wedding houses to welcome the bridegroom.
Ashan, who was moved by this, started the preliminary study of Kalaripayattu and Marma treatment from his uncle, Guru Kuttiyappy Ashan. He continued his studies under the tutelage of Guru Eliasar and Guru Devasahayam.
Mr. Thankapanasan who started studying Kalari at the age of 10 years and made his debut at the age of 20. Along with his studies, Aasan also focused on training children. In 1957, he established an institution named 'Maruti Marma Chitra & Kalarisangham'. After that he presented many programs with his disciples. In 1983 British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) visited Kalari and made a documentary titled "The of a Warrior" about the southern Kalari community and Marma healing method. The Maruti Kalarisangham gained international attention with the telecast of this documentary.

Its programs took flight in various European countries, including Italy, France, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, and Germany. The center’s reach extended further, participating in ICCR programs in countries like Russia, Hungary, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, leaving an indelible mark on global audiences.
